Microsoft will no longer offer the Elite Xbox 360 unit as an ordinary option. Rather the Elite will only be available during special sales like the special red Resident Evil 5 Elite console. Word is the Elite is not being carried as much by retailers as the US economy is in a slump so it's not cost effective for Microsoft to mass produce them.
This is not confirmed so take it with a grain of salt.
